The on-site Bean Sprouts cafe is pretty expensive, to be honest. Parking isn't free, unfortunately, but members can get annual parking passes. Now in addition to the Irvine Regional Parks flyover, there's a renewable energy flight that includes a quick trip to visit the dinosaurs! (Plus, memberships include visits to Discovery Cube LA, where their Helicopter Tour has two additional videos).Īnd of course, there are the rotating exhibits like Hot Wheels, Lego, Superheroes, and seasonals like Spooky Science for Halloween and Science of Gingerbread that keep things interesting.

They recently added a second film to the Helicopter Tour, which is like a scaled-down free version of Soarin' at Disney California Adventure. And the Discovery Market Eco Challenge with its barcode scanners and shopping carts likewise is an amazing blend of technology and education. The Race to Recycle game is also a favorite for repeat over-and-over again.
There's a tremendous amount of interaction to be had here, and I highly recommend it for anyone with elementary school-aged children.ĭinoQuest is aging and occasionally has some technical glitches, but its combination of Dinosaur scavenger hunt and wireless wand technology can capture a kid's attention and force you to stay there for hours on end completing every single mission. These aren't static displays with flipboards (although there are some of those). It has a wide range of permanent exhibits that keep my kids enthralled and entertained, even after years of repeat visits, especially because of the high level of technology involvement. Having visited so many other science museums, I truly believe Discovery Cube OC is one of the very best. Additionally, our memberships included the ASTC Travel Passport program, which we've used to visit other science museums around the country for free.

We've recently completed the end of four years of annual family memberships as our kids are getting older, although we still plan to visit occasionally for free Bank of America museum days (Sundays on the first weekend of every month).
